In an attempt to make us more like Amsterdam and Europe and provide a green, healthy personal mobility alternative, a new affordable digital bike sharing system called Social Bikes will be launching in New York this fall. Social bike set-up costs are a fraction of those using traditional infrastructure-based systems, like the ones in Velib in Paris or Biking in Barcelona ($3,000 to $4,000) and cost less than $1,000.

Social Bikes will work like this: If you need a bike for a day register online and you'll find the closest designated rack on an iPhone app and select one from the GPS-enabled map. The locking system on the bike lets you lock it up on any rack, not only the designated ones. You'll transfer funds over the internet through your phone and you're off. If you don't have a smart enough phone, you can just punch an unlock code into the unit or unlock it via SMS.

If your bike happens to be broken, hit the "repair" button and the bike will be flagged for pick-up. What will you do if you need to pop in a store and don't want some to ride away with it? You'll just press the "hold" button and you'll have ten minutes after locking the bike before it goes operable again.

Hopefully this test will not be sabotaged by the well... theft and crime in New York. Maybe they should have picked a less crime-ridden city like Boise.

The Multiple File Search and Replace program was developed for just these purposes. The program has a more convenient interface, which is oriented toward webmasters, web developers, and search engine optimization (SEO) staff. * To create a new rule, click on Add.
* To edit, click on Change.
* To delete, click on Delete.

In rule-editing mode, you see a form to enter the parameters for the rule. Everything is obvious here. Enter the text that you wish to find, and the text with which to replace it, and so forth.

Save the rule, and it appears in the table of the main form. Save the job. Next define where you will save the result: overwrite or new file. In the latter case, define a file-naming template. You can use variables to create file names.

The rules for including or deleting text are created in an analogous manner.

To search for a text excerpt, the capability of creating identifiers in the text to be processed has been designed in.

In the program , these fields are called Begin and End. I.e., you can define that text to be processed is located after the Begin identifier and before the End identifier.

Avira is releasing an update of its scan engine which increases the speed of virus search by another 20 percent.
Tettnang, 17 October 2008 – More power: The IT security specialists at Avira have managed to increase the speed of its already fast anti-virus solution by an additional 20 percent. The engine update will be distributed automatically to private and business customers.
The developers have written new code to deal with reading and writing files. This has accelerated the reading rate and reduced the number of prompts and output requests made to the hardware. The programmers have also optimized the internal administration of modules when scanning, which makes the scanning approximately 20 percent faster on an average end-user system. These enhancements have also been added to the Avira Professional solutions for networks.
The Avira virus scanner was already one of the fastest products on the market. The IT security expert confirms this, once again, with the new optimizations that enhance the scanner. “An anti-virus solution is useless if the user deactivates it because of slow performance. It needs to be user-friendly, fast and remain in the background”, says Tjark Auerbach, founder and CEO of Avira. “We attach great importance to the fact that our solutions are fast, have high detection rates and use very little system resources. With automatic updates and fast scanning the users should be protected without noticing any impact on their computers and benefit from worry-free computing".
